Reliance Entertainment, operator of India's largest theater group Ad Labs, is setting up a nationwide theater chain under the banner of Big Cinemas across the United States. The company has acquired 250 screens in 28 North American locations, including New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, Los Angeles, Washington State and Washington, D.C.

Even though its theaters are in major Indian hubs, the company is targeting the mainstream market. The company says the theaters will play some Bollywood and other ethnic movies, but the vast majority of the screens will be devoted to mainstream fare.
