Pres. Barack Obama’s has approved the largest ever arms sale of US arms to India.

The State Department said in a statement that the $2.1 billion sale of eight Boeing Co P-8I maritime patrol aircrafts, designed for long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare, was approved after “political, military, economic, human rights and arms control considerations.”

The aircrafts will be delivered to the Indian navy over the next 7 years. Lockheed and Boeing are also vying for a $10 billion contract to sell India 126 new multi-role fighters — Boeing’s F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet and Lockheed’sF-16.
