Australia names an Indian Australian as its new High Commissioner to New Delhi.

Australia, which has witnessed a spike in racial assaults on Indian students in recent years, has named an Indian Australian as its new High Commissioner to New Delhi.

Peter Varghese, currently head of Office of National Assessments, Australia’s intelligence agency, assumes his new posting in August.
