Base salaries in India are expected to rise nearly 10 percent, the highest in Asia, according to a survey of 2,000 local and joint-venture companies in the Asia-Pacific region by Hewitt Associates.

Salaries in India grew 6.3 percent in 2009, the lowest since 2005. More than 60 percent of companies surveyed in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore froze wage levels, compared with only 26 percent in India in 2009.

It's really good to know that other people have made the move and that it is everything they hoped it would be oh and congratulations on the daughter!Thanks for the agency advice, it's good to know that they have a different attitude to most agents over here, I'll make sure that I meet as many as possible. From my initial research it seems that there are plenty of vacancies in my field so I'm hoping not to have too much trouble finding a suitable role and I feel much better about potential salaries now as well.I was talking to my wife about it last night and we realised that we had kind of dismissed Auckland out of hand, I'm not too keen on heat and humidity but I gues I could learn to enjoy it! Based on your suggestion we have decided to put it back in play and spend some time there when we are over in September/October so thank you for that.Thanks for your best wishes
