The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation is scrapping Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia’s dream project, Nano City. The public-private partnership project for a Silicon Valley-style knowledge hub, announced to much fanfare in 2006, has been dormant for years. Bhatia is cofounder of Hotmail, which captured the imagination of Silicon Valley, and was snapped up by Microsoft for a reported $400 million in 1997. He shut down another website he launched, Arzoo, after the dotcom burst, but relaunched it in 2010 as a travel hub.
