9 of the 50 venture funded companies with the greatest promise to succeed in Wall Street Journal’s “The Next Big Thing 2011,” list have Indian founders. Xactly Corp, a San Jose, Calif., software company, which ranked third, was co-founded by Christopher Cabrera and Satish Palvai.

 
Aster Data Systems, a San Carlos, Calif., co-founded by Mayank Bawa, ranked 7th. Web publisher Glam Media, which was co-founded by Samir Arora and Raj Narayan ranked 8th on the list, while Nimble Storage, of San Jose, Calif., a data storage company co-founded by Umesh Maheshwari and Varun Mehta, ranked 17th.
