Infosys Scrutinized

Infosys, one of India’s most successful outsourcing company, is being investigated by a federal grand jury in Texas for abusing B-1 visas.

The company is accused of exploiting business visitor visas, which are intended for visitors to attend meetings, conferences or install specialized equipment, by having its Indian employees on B-1 visas perform contract work instead.

A project manager at the company has alleged in a lawsuit against the company and a whistleblower filing that his supervisors pressured him to write false letters inviting workers from India for sales and training meetings, when they were actually undertaking contract work. He claims he personally knew of 60 Indian workers performing contract work on B-1 visas.
