According to a study by the University of California, San Francisco, 61% of California's 62,000 physicians are white and 26% Asian, against their proportion in the state population of 48% and 11% respectively. By contrast, only 10 percent of doctors in California are Latino or African American, compared to 40% of their share in the state's population.
