Paper Or Plastic?

The Reserve Bank of India is reportedly weighing polymer, or plastic, currency notes. According to media reports, as an initial step the bank will introduce a billion Rs 10 polymer notes and has asked several manufacturers to submit samples. Plastic notes are considered more durable and harder to counterfeit.

Thirty countries, including Singapore, Mexico, Chile and Costs Rica use plastic currency. Australia led the movement to plastic currency in 1988. Bangladesh introduced a 10 Taka polymer note in 2000 and Nepal a Rs.10 plastic note in 2002
