A Dutch couple was forced to shell out $200 dollars to a hawker for four samosas at the cattle fair in Sonepur in Bihar. The samosas are typically priced at 5 cents or Rs 2.50 a piece.
The annual fair is popular among foreign tourists, who frequently become targets of unscrupulous touts. After the couple had consumed four samosas, the hawker demanded Rs 10,000 for them, asserting that they were made of special Indian herbs and had aphrodisiac qualities.
The couple paid up under threat, but then approached police, who forced the hawker to refund the couple Rs 9,990.
