The Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) plans to launch a soft drink made from cow urine as a refreshing alternative to Coke or Pepsi.
The drink, labeled “gau jal”, or “cow water” is reportedly undergoing laboratory tests will be launched by the end of 2009.
Om Prakash, the head of the RSS Cow Protection Department, promised reporters: “Don’t worry, it won’t smell like urine and will be tasty too. Its USP will be that it’s going to be very healthy. It won’t be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins.”
Prakash expects the cow water to give the colas a run for the money, both in India and abroad. “We’re going to give them good competition as our drink is good for mankind. We may also think of exporting it.”
