Over a quarter of newly elected parliamentarians in India’s national elections have criminal cases pending against them.
By:

Civic activists claim that over a quarter of newly elected parliamentarians in India’s national elections have criminal cases pending against them. The Association for Democratic Reforms and National Election Watch say, “There are now 153 MPs with criminal charges and 74 of them with serious criminal charges,” including murder. The BJP has the highest number of criminally tainted MPs, with 43, followed by the Congress with 41.
