Bulletproof Turbans?

Development of bullet-proof turbans to enable Sikhs to serve in armed units.
By:

British Sikh police officers are lobbying for the development of bullet-proof turbans to enable Sikhs to serve in armed units.

Presently Sikh officers are barred from carrying firearms or serving in the riot police because they are religiously prohibited from wearing safety gear. The newly formed British Police Sikh Association is lobbying for a bullet-proof turban made ofsynthetic fiber, such as Kevlar, which is used in body armor and claims to be five times stronger than steel.
