General Electric India has become the first Indian company approved for U.S. sensitive high-technology trade.
GE, which employs almost 15,000 people and has revenues of $2.8 billion in India, has been authorized as a “validated end user,” allowing it to sell advanced security systems in India.
GE India President and CEO Tejpreet Chopra said, “It will not only permit technology exchange on energy and aviation between GE and our research facilities in India, but will also permit the sale of advanced security systems to the Indian Ministry of Defense, Indian police and other Indian security organizations.”
Over the next five years, India is expected to spend nearly $30 billion on military hardware and services.
