General Electric’s chief executive Jeffrey R. Immelt is betting that India will play a major role in reducing health care costs in the United States.

India’s health industry is expected to double between 2008 to 2012 and many American health companies are already outsourcing services like radiological readings, transcriptions and scheduling to India. Experts expect Indian outsourcing companies and health professionals to aggressively court the $2.5 trillion American healthcare sector once the health care debate has settled.
