In what is being billed as the most expensive residential apartment sale in India, a 2,600 sq ft apartment in Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade’s Jolly Maker 1, the country’s richest housing society. was recently sold for $6 million — $2,200 per sq ft.
The apartment price bested the previous high of $2,000 per sq ft paid in 2010 for a larger, 3,600 sq ft apartment in Worli’s Samudra Mahal, also in Mumbai, which sold for $6.2 million.
The four-bedroom apartment was purchased by Ashok Patni, one of three brothers who own Patni Computers. All three Patni brothers —Narendra, Ashok and Gajendra — already own apartments in this sea-facing tower.
