In the new electronic age, you can also take refuge in casual gaming - casual, as in not serious.
But casual gaming turned dead serious for law student Kavitha Yalavarthi of Odessa, Texas, who beat out 70 contestants for a whopping $1 million purse in the first-ever "World's Best Casual Gamer 2006" contest.
Unlike hardcore gamers who are obsessed with fantasy dragons and murderous cops, Yalavarthi dueled 70 other contestants on three of the most popular casual games, Zuma, Bejeweled 2 and Solitaire.
Yalavarthi reportedly broke the news of her million dollar purse to her parents with a late-night call: "Mom, Dad, you know those casual games that I play online? Well, they're not so casual anymore. I just won the $1 million grand prize."
Guess, it was OK to wake them at midnight with the not-so-casual news. |
