Spoony Singh works on a wax figure of Marilyn Monroe in his Hollywood Wax Museum in Los Angeles in this April 19, 1966 file photo. Singh, once said he founded the world famous Hollywood Wax Museum

to give tourists who couldn't find any real celebrities in Hollywood the next best thing. The wax museum houses 200 figures of Hollywood stars, whose popularity has risen and ebbed over the years, but Marilyn Monroe has been the perennial favorite. "I thought, let's bring the stars back to Hollywood Boulevard. Let's allow people to get close and look into the eyes of their favorite entertainers," Singh said. People lined up for half a mile waiting to get in when the museum opened on Feb. 26, 1965. Singh died in late October.
