| The first shipment of mangoes after the U.S. lifted its ban during President George Bush's visit to India in 2005 will enter the U.S. market in May.

Count on Alphanso, Benganpalli, Kesar, Chausa, Langda and Mallika being at your local Indian grocery store this summer as marketers expect that Indian mangoes will dominate the 250,000-ton U.S. market, which is currently monopolized by mangoes from Mexico. Indian mango growers are also targeting other overseas markets, especially Japan, which lifted its ban on Indian mangoes last year. Current fresh mango export is just $30 million, a volume that is expected to more than triple in the next couple of years.
