In an unusual twist, an Indian doctor has filed a police complaint for negligence against himself after a patient in his care died from post-operative complications.

 
In the complaint, Dr Pradyot Kumar Naskar acknowledged that he accidentally punctured the uterus of Prabhati Patra while performing an abortion.

Tamonash Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Indian Medical Association, said, "This is an interesting case. We have never heard this."
