Rachel Paulose, the embattled U.S. attorney for Minnesota, who became one of the public faces of the justice department scandal under Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, has resigned to take up a position with the Justice Department in Washington, D.C.

Paulose, who is Indian American and member of the right wing Federalist Society, was caught up in the Congressional investigation of the firing of eight U.S. attorneys who were allegedly replaced with Bush cronies.

She was accused of unprofessional behavior by her colleagues, including a penchant for quoting Bible verses at work, leading to a revolt in which three of her top administrators resigned to protest her conduct.
