Republican Minority

Nearly three times as many American minorities are Democrats than Republicans.

A Gallup survey found that 89% percent of rank-and-file Republicans are non-Hispanic whites, just 5% are Hispanic, 2% are Black, and 4% other races. By contrast 36% of Democrats are nonwhite (Hispanic, Black or some other race).

 
Minorities were more likely to identity themselves with Democrats more than even Independents, of whom 27% were Hispanic, African American or other minorities.
