The Happy Planet Index, compiled by UK-based New Economics Foundation, ranks India 35 on the list, which is topped by Costa Rica.

India is way ahead of many developed economies, including the US and the UK, which are ranked 114 and 74 respectively. The index is based on life expectancy, life satisfaction and ecological factors.
