Standing Tall

Investors in Dubai’s 162-storey Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, which opened in January, may be down in the dumps, but B R Shetty, CEO of Abhu Dhabi’s healthcare facility New Medical Center, who bought the 100th floor for a home and the 141st floor for offices, is celebrating.

Shetty paid nearly $12 million for each floor, but the $760 sq. ft. rate he paid four years ago, still remains a bargain even after Dubai’s real estate crash, which knocked prices to under $2,000 a sq. ft. from their peak at $4,000 a sq. ft.
