The United States Air Force has discharged Lt. Robin Chaurasiya under its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy after she revealed that she is gay. In

 
December, she entered into a civil union with her partner in New Hampshire. Initially the Air Force refused to discharge Chaurasiya, concluding that she was using her sexual orientation for “avoiding and terminating military service.”
