Just like the U.S., India has begun its decennial census, which this year will not just count the country’s residents, but also photograph, fingerprint and issue an identity card to everyone over 15.
An estimated 2.5 million census workers are fanning out all over the country to count an estimated 1.2 billion people, nearly four times the number in the USA. |
