 An estimated 50 million Hindus are expected to have taken part in this year’s Purna Kumbh Mela, which concluded on April 28.

 
The Kumbh Mela is the world’s largest pilgrimage, nearly 25 times the size of the next largest — hajj, the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, which attracts nearly two million devotees annually.
