$3.7 million Raza

Syed Haider Raza’s work “Saurashtra” became the most expensive Indian painting when it sold for $3.7 million at a Christie’s auction in London.

It broke a record set in June 2008 by Francis Newton Souza’s 1955 painting “Birth,” which in June 2008 sold for $2.5 million.
