A Hindu group in New Jersey, Forum for Hindu Awakening, is protesting the sale of statues of Hindu deities depicting Shiva and Shakti in sexual embrace by a Crozet, Va., company Sacred Source.

“When we talk about the union of Shiva and Shakti it’s only in the spiritual sense,” Bhavna Shinde, spokesman for the Hindu group told the media.

Liana Kowalzik, so-owner of the store, rejected the protests, which she claims come from “one branch of the Hindu faith. They’re ignoring and discriminating against the Tantric Hindu believers for whom these images are sacred.”
