Prakashanand Saraswati, the 82-year-old charismatic founder and spiritual guru of Barsana Dham in Austin, Texas, billed as the largest Hindu Temple in North America, has been convicted of 20 counts of sexual molestation of children two decades earlier and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Saraswati was sentenced in abstentia after he failed to show up for the sentencing phase and his $11 million bail has been revoked and a warrant issued for his arrest.

 
The U.S, Marshal Service has announced a manhunt and suspects he is hiding in Mexico with the help of followers. “There are people that we’ve talked to who are devoted followers of his and they will sacrifice criminal charges and prosecution to help his flight,” U.S. Marshal Hector Gomez said.
