Maya, Anaya and Arjun

Maya, a name also popular among African Americans, is the most popular Indian female baby name in the United States. Arjun retained its rank as the most popular male Indian baby name in 2010. The Social Security database of the most popular baby names in the country ranked Arjun at 639, up from 979 in 2001. It was followed by Aditya, Bodhi, Arnav and Pranav among male names.

Anaya, Diya and Tara are among other female Indian baby names to make the list. Rahul and Nikhil, which ranked 818 and 867 in 2000, did not make the list in 2010. Nor did Shreya, which had made the cut in 2005.
